Ministries

Steward Board

This body is appointed annually by the pastor to be responsible for the overall needs of the local church:  finances, pastor, spiritual and general welfare of the members.  They are also responsible for the service of communion to the members and delivery to those who are sick and shut-in. The pastor also appoints a president pro tempore from this board to act on his/her behalf in his/her absence.  The pastor has veto powers on any action taken in his/her absence.

Trustee Board

These members of this board are nominated by the Pastor and elected by the membership at an election called by the pastor.  (Except when there is a major indebtedness on the church, i.e. mortgage).  Their responsibilities include the temporal concerns of the church, i.e. church property, buildings, equipment, etc. 

Stewardess Board

Members of this board are presented by the Stewardess Board to the Pastor and Board of Stewards for confirmation for service.  The Board is responsible for preparing the altar and elements for the Holy Communion during the 1st worship service and the Maundy Thursday Service, assisting with baptisms, funerals and visiting the sick and shut-in when requested.

Usher's Board

These are our “doorkeepers” who greet everyone with a smile and a friendly ‘welcoming spirit.’ The ushers are responsible for making sure everyone is fully accommodated with basic needs during service. They have an Usher’s anniversary annually and worship with other ushers from other congregations. The youth and the adults serve as ushers.

Lay Organization

The Lay Organization creates love and appreciation, especially among the youth for the history and principles of African Methodism, and encourages member support for the church’s vision, goals and objectives. The Lay Organization is the teaching mechanism of the church.

Women’s Missionary Society

The Missionary Society works and coordinate outreach activities with connectional churches and other national and local organizations. The Missionary Society coordinates food banks, clothing ministries and other needs of the community.

Young Peoples Department (YPD)

The Young People’s Department provides training in all aspects of church life for young men and women ages 2-26. Emphasis is placed on evangelism, social outreach, A.M.E. church history and leadership skills.

New Member’s Class

The purpose is to introduce you to the rich history of the AME church and Mack’s Chapel, enhance spiritual growth and development, prepare for discipleship, acquaint you with the primary mission of the Church and acquaint you with the Body of Christ and the opportunities to serve.

Class Leaders Council

Class Leaders serve as a liaison between the Pastor and congregation, providing spiritual support to the members. They also identify special needs and abilities of various class members and make recommendations to the pastor.

Sunday School

The Church school is committed to providing a foundation for Christian growth and development and for spiritual fulfillment through teaching, training, nurturing and preparing all God’s people for Christian service. The staff of teachers, assistants and a superintendent provide Christian Education for children, teens and adults in four areas:  Primary (ages 3-7), Juniors (ages 8-14), Seniors (ages 15-18) and Adults.  The Church School also participates with other A.M.E. Churches in the Southern District Sunday School Convention and Annual Conference. Church School is held each 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays at 9:45 AM.

Christian Education Program

Christian Education “develops standards and, prepares various programs, offer classes, teach Christian education, publish material, train people for ministry and other church vocations” in accordance with the tradition and doctrine of the church.

Bible Study

The primary way God speaks to us is through the Bible. This means that one of the first things you should do in your search for God’s purpose is to start digging into scripture. We have an instructor lead bible study where everyone is encouraged to participate in the discussing. Bible Study meets Thursday nights at 6:30 PM after the 2nd and 4th Sunday.

Vacation Bible School

This is a three-day program during the summer vacation time of Christian education, activities, arts & crafts, dinner and lots of fun and fellowship. It is also an outreach ministry for the community inviting youth and adults of all ages to participate.

Food Service Ministry

We seek to address the health needs of our congregation and community via education, mini conferences, and health fairs to promote a healthy lifestyle. The ministry members will distribute monthly health awareness materials and information.

Public Relations and Social Media Committee

This committee’s responsibilities include the promotion of the church’s various programs and events through the local media and A.M.E. Church’s media resources.

Music Ministry

The mission of the Music Ministry is to proclaim the word of God through music. The ministry is not an object of admiration but an instrument to teach, comfort, inspire, convince and encourage.  The Music Ministry Department consists of: youth choir, Gospel Choir and Male Choir and musicians.

Media Ministry

The Media Ministry provides technological production to deliver the Word of God to others by utilizing a vast array of resources such as CDs, Radio Ministry, Facebook and website.

Pastor’s Aid Society

This group plans fundraising activities for the membership to show its appreciation for the work and efforts of the pastor and his/her family.  The activities are usually held throughout the year and special “Appreciation” receptions are held at Christmas and the end of the Conference Year.

Outreach and Evangelism

Evangelism is the focal point of our Christian Worship Experience – the proclamation of the Lord, the sharing and spreading of the gospel, our radio ministry and Bible Study, just to name a few. It is a vital work, and we need many willing hearts and hands to help “spread the Word.” We are charged to go out and proclaim the Word of God to the unchurched and the lost.

Health & Wellness Ministry

The mission of the health and wellness committee is to promote spiritual and physical health. We encourage healthy lifestyle changes that include healthy eating habits, physical activity and mental wellness. We have partnered with Southeastern Health’s Compassion for U Congressional Wellness Network to help reach beyond our congregation to the community. Our goal is to provide information and promote activities of health and wellness for a happier and healthier community…

Transportation Ministry

We provide transportation for members and interested persons desiring to attend Sunday School, Worship services and events at the church. Please contact the church by phone, email or submit your request online.
